“Mohannad Essa, born in 1994, Syrian citizen, sociable and love volunteering activities. I am ambitious and always seek for the better. I come from a family of 7 people. Both my father and my mother are retired teachers. My older brother is a CEO in a hospital, my sister is married, my younger brother is pursuing Doctoral studies in radiation protection in Germany, and my other younger brother was an architect, but he passed away during the Syrian war. Since I arrived to Jordan, I faced many difficulties, but I was able to cope and adapt and now I consider it as my second country. Before receiving the HOPES scholarship, I used to work in jobs with very low income and struggled to ensure my basic needs and academic fees. The HOPES programme helped me achieve my dream to pursue my Master’s studies in Business Administration at Al Bayt University, a dream that was unreachable. I chose this field of studies because it will help me achieve my dreams and build my future. I took part in numerous training seminars in diverse fields and developed my skills. This allowed me to build my own business and rely on myself. I am so proud that I was honored by Al al-Bayt University for my efficient activities as the representative of the Syrian students in the university. I am the founder of HOPES volunteering team and had won the Dutch Spark competition among the top 25 leadership projects in Jordan. I received several medals from the Syrian students committee at the Jordanian universities for the year 2018 and 2019. Success requires determination, persistence and setting a clear goal. Nothing is impossible. Never under-estimate your skills. Patience, planning and perseverance are the key to success. I aim for the future to pursue my studies and obtain a PhD in my field of studies and to expand my project to other countries.”
