Mohammad lives in the Zaatari camp in Jordan to where he fled with his mother and younger siblings in 2013. Determined to make the best of the situation, Mohammad immediately sought ways to further his education. A DAFI scholarship by UNHCR enabled him to join a bachelor programme in Education at Al al-Bayt University. He finished his studies successfully in due time which made him the first Zaatari Camp university graduate. This success motivated him to aspire for higher education. He achieved a Master’s degree in Curriculum Design with the support of a HOPES scholarship funded by the EU ‘Madad Fund’ from Al al-Bayt University. With his choice of studies, Mohammad aims to respond to the needs of the youth in the camp who need “knowledge and education”, but also “support and guidance” provided by committed and well-trained teachers which Mohammad would like to help to train. If possible, he would like to study for a PhD too. But already now he is offering his expertise by volunteering in the camp as a trainer.
