Integrating Syrians into Lebanese Higher Education through Recognition of Qualifications

Integrating Syrians into Lebanese Higher Education through Recognition of Qualifications

Implementing organisation: American University of Beirut – AUB

This project aims;

  1. To develop a comprehensive, functional and tailor-made recognition tool for Lebanese higher education concerning Syrians with documents that need to be validated and more specifically Syrians without proper

documents

  1. To publish a comparative research report and a guideline for Lebanese higher education system by conducting an evidence-based academic research on how to better cope and integrate Syrians and prospective refugees into Lebanese higher education system. In doing so, as one of the activities, the project will test NOKUT’s (Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education) “Qualification’s Passport for Refugees” and use this input to develop Lebanon’s own tool suggestion.

The recognition tool will not only serve to Lebanese higher education institutions but also for Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Directorate General of Higher Education (partner of the

project) who is in charge of equivalency and the UNHCR who are responsible for registering Syrians under temporary protection.

Duration of the project: 10 months
