Improved Access of Education of Syrian post-secondary age young people in Urban Settings in Turkey

The project’s goal is to provide learning opportunities to displacement-affected and disadvantaged young people. The project location is Sultanbeyli district of Istanbul in which 6217 Syrian under temporary protection and 74 thousand local young people between the age of 17 to 25 reside. The objective of this project is to provide safe, participatory and inclusive learning spaces and to provide learning support through a high quality education to a 400 disadvantaged Syrian and local young people; turkish language education support, study support to examination for foreign students, career days and counselling on higher education are the main project activities.

200 Syrians will receive in-kind educational support covering TÖMER which is Turkish language learning program, giving qualification in Turkish language proficiency (TÖMER certificate) and preliminary for enrolling higher school institution in Turkey and YÖS (Examination for Foreign Students) exam fees.  In Career Days participants will learn about qualified/ semi-qualified occupations in Turkey.  

Duration of the project: 16 months
